Let’s talk about EX, baby

A 3.5 hour workshop for people who are struggling to redefine the relationship with their ex – on Saturday July 13, 2024

Saturday, July 13th 2024 from 4:00-7:30pm UK time

The total cost is 60€ / £50 / 300 lei / $90 CAD.

Applications are now open!

What is this workshop & who is it for?

“It’s a workshop for people who are “still” struggling with how they want to relate with their ex-partner.”

This workshop is open to all genders.

There will be a maximum of 20 participants.

This workshop is not about blaming or trying to change others.

This workshop is for people who have already done some self-development work who are wanting to mindfully reflect on what they need, taking responsibility for how they want to show up (even when it’s so hard), feeling into any emotions that come up along the way.

What will we learn?

Here is the workshop outline (note that we might tweak as we go, based on the needs of the group and there’ll be screen-breaks too!):

Prologue: Welcome & intention setting – We’ll say hello, establish group safety and ask ourselves what we want from today.

***

Act 1: The current state of affairs – We’ll share what it’s actually like for us right now in our current situation. What’s it like in the silence or the disconnect? What’s it like to hate them but they’re the parent of your child? What’s it like to keep going back when you don’t even really want to? What’s it like to be thinking and dreaming about them even though it ended decades ago? What is it like for us to “still” be experiencing whatever we’re experiencing about our ex?

***

Act 2: Let’s go deep – Spoiler alert(!): This dynamic you’re in probably didn’t start with your ex. We’ll feel into our emotions and bodily sensations. How familiar are these to us? How far back do these go? What can we learn from our past and why does whatever we’ve been experiencing actually make complete sense, when we stop and think about it?

***

Act 3: Where do we go from here? – Bringing together what we’ve noticed, felt and learnt today – we’ll take the time to focus on the present and the future. From now on, from your side, how are you going to choose to relate with your ex-partners, your past relationships and – most importantly – yourself?

***

Epilogue: Thank yous and goodbyes – We’ll close, acknowledging what we have shared together and thanking each other for our shared experience.

Post-credits sequence:

Over to you😉

Learning styles:

The workshop will be a mixture of whole group & small group sharing as well as some time for individual reflection/journalling.

Please do not expect “teaching” from us – we will do our best to help you connect with your own lived experience and internal process that’s unique to you.

You will not be required to read anything at all. Any questions we offer will be read out loud.

There will be screen-breaks during the workshop.

Ines & Joe during their last course I’ve done the work and now I find myself alone (note that these are JOKE screen-names and should not be taken seriously😹)

Our commitment to you + safety

Our commitment to you is that we will show up as our authentic selves, doing our best to facilitate an open, curious and compassionate space.

We will do our best to create and maintain a space of safety.

We will ask you to follow these rules:

  • Share from your own lived experience, in your own words – don’t share other’s without their permission
  • Do your best not to make anyone wrong (including yourself) nor to try to “fix” people (nobody’s broken so how could you possibly fix them?!)
  • Get curious about your judgments (they just happen, after all)

This workshop is about you, your life experiences and how you relate to your own experiences. Everyone is very welcome.

Our own practices of self-care are important to us. We meet with our own therapists, coaches, supervisors, yoga teachers etc. and do all the other bits and pieces to keep ourselves well to hold space for you all.

About Joe

Joe is a coach who works therapeutically with his clients around the world using the Compassionate Inquiry (CI) approach developed by Gabor Maté. In addition to the year long CI training, Joe has also trained in Solutions Focused coaching with SolutionsAcademy and Relational Mindfulness with Maura Sills at the Karuna Institute on Dartmoor.

Joe has always known – even before he started therapy years ago and started talking about this kind of stuff – that something just isn’t right in British culture with how the default seems to encourage us to just disconnect and cut off communication when we break up with someone. Now, with more awareness, he is doing his best to trust his process, and trust his relationships with his exes to be exactly what they need to be (even though this is difficult sometimes!).

Joe is big into music (especially progressive metal), pretentious coffee, growing tasty organic vegetables, yoga, running, learning Japanese and walking his neighbour’s dog, Toby! Joe’s influences include Thich Nhat Hanh, Bayo Akomolafe, Nintendo, Charles Eisenstein, Hayao Miyazaki, Kae Tempest – among others!

Some nice words about Joe: “The power Joe has as a facilitator comes from his honesty in not knowing it all. Joe is an open, kind, non-judgmental listener who is willing to share himself honestly for the sake of others growth. Joe created a beautiful environment for us to do the same. Joe so easily fosters a safe and loving space. His energy is uplifting unique and inspiring.  Joe probably doesn’t know the true extent of the impact he has on people.” – Ciara, former Course Participant

About Ines

Ines is a Compassionate Inquiry Certified Practitioner and she uses Gabor Maté’s amazing approach in her work, guiding clients to step into their authentic selves and to live a life full of meaning and presence.

She is also a Nirvana Fitness instructor and a writer.

When she’s not working with her clients, Ines is parenting her (almost) 8-year-old daughter and her (almost) 2-year-old cat. You might find her on her yoga mat or her couch, watching Grey’s Anatomy, enjoying her coffee and her life.

Ines has been divorced for more than two years and having a healthy relationship with the father of her child is the main struggle of her life. She has learned and she is still learning a lot from this dynamic and she is now ready to share her story with the world.

Some nice words about Ines: “Ines is an authentic human being, who is giving 100% of her passion and knowledge when she’s working with people. She does this naturally, in her own lovely way.” (Emma, bodyworker)
