HA! (Helpers Anonymous) Vol. 2 – next circle starting February 5th 2025
Applications are now open!
What is this programme & who is it for?
If (like me) you have had a tendency to get invested in fixing and helping and sorting out others whilst (like me) you haven’t been taking best care of yourself, then this programme might be for you!
Join me, Joe, and up to 9 other ‘helpers’ in a 10 week sharing circle where together we’ll get curious about what lies underneath our helping tendency as we get better at being there for others whilst really taking care of ourselves! (basically a win-win situation!)

What will we learn?
The programme will be shaped as we go (as we listen to what the group needs) but will cover themes including:
Identifying & expressing our needs
Our boundaries
(Self) compassion fatigue
Listening to our bodies (think headaches, gut feelings, anxiety)
Our parts (e.g. ‘the part of me that wants to stay at work until 10pm’, ‘the part of me that just wants to crawl into bed’)
Our relationships with clients, friends, partners and families
Our childhoods (what happened that shouldn’t have, what didn’t happen that should have)
Recognising our coping strategies and adaptations
Trusting our own process – how our own unique way of doing things can actually work for us if we let it!
Through sharing our experiences and listening attentively to each other, we will each take from each session what is most useful to us on an individual level as we integrate the learning in our lives outside the circle.
When & where is it?
The programme runs on Zoom on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30pm UK time on the following dates:
February 5, 12, 19, 26
March 12*, 19*, 26*
April 9, 16, 23
The programme is open to anyone, anywhere in the world!
London: 7-8:30pm
Toronto/New York: 2-3:30pm
(*3-4:30pm in March)
Vancouver: 11am-12:30pm
(*12-1:30pm in March)

Commitment & money stuff
Once your place is confirmed, your commitment is to stay through the programme until the end (as we’re only a small group it makes a difference if you don’t come! Please make sure you can attend at least seven of the dates including the opening and closing sessions.)
I trust in course participants (and my coaching clients) to provide my income in exchange for what I offer🌱
To participate, you agree to make three monthly payments to me through on the following dates via bank transfer:
Feb 1st, Mar 1st, Apr 1st (+ Optional ‘tip’ – April 23rd)
You choose the monthly amount to transfer based on your context and your desire to support my work – if you’re feeling affluent give £75 or more a month, if your budget is restricted give less.
If you feel you haven’t given ‘enough’ by the end of the programme you can give me a tip on April 23rd!
Please note that this isn’t a “low cost” course!
Also note that I am unable to refund your payments to me if you need to leave the programme early (for any reason) so please give knowing this.
You can make payments in £, €, USD or CAD.

My commitment to you is that I will show up for you each week as my authentic self, doing my best to facilitate an open, curious and compassionate space.
During our time together, I will continue with my own practice of self-care which includes meeting with my own therapist, coaching supervisor and all the other bits and pieces I do to keep myself well to hold the space for you all.

It felt, like, cozy and safe…
I was expecting it to be much more group therapy vibes but it was not that – so for me, that was great! In reality, it really just felt in many ways like friends coming together to hang out, to chat and hear how we’re all doing.
It felt, like, cozy and safe and it created a sense of rhythm to my weeks – like it was nice to know I was gonna come and connect with all the people that were in the session every week on Wednesday.

About Joe
Joe is a coach who works therapeutically with his clients around the world using the Compassionate Inquiry (CI) approach developed by Gabor Maté. In addition to the year long CI Professional Training & 6 month Mentorship Program, Joe has also trained in Solutions Focused coaching with SolutionsAcademy and Relational Mindfulness with Maura Sills at the Karuna Institute on Dartmoor.
Before coaching, Joe worked as a teaching assistant and teacher in primary schools in Guatemala and the UK and in the homelessness sector as a frontline worker and link worker in Brighton (which is to say that he has a lot of experience being a ‘helper’!)
Joe has a lot of experience in numbing himself with bread, Pret a Manger, alcohol, pornography, compulsive spending (and generally not listening to his body!). He’s since learned how to be with himself a bit better and is passionate about supporting people to connect with themselves.
Joe’s influences include Bayo Akomolafe, Thich Nhat Hanh, Shigeru Miyamoto, Hayao Miyazaki, Kae Tempest – among others!
I really appreciate Joe as a facilitator of this group...
I love how he shows up as very authentic and kind of an authority in this mindfulness/’bodyfulness’ – never forgetting the knowledge and skills he has but always just creating a space of ‘you’re just as much of an expert as I am’ on your body and your mind, your experience and all this – we all have something to bring.
He really helped shine a light on that with all of us – not just teaching but being in a round circle with us and working through things together. It felt very natural, freeing and validating of our own experience.
